The flourescent lights reflected dimly off the old worn marble that was practically spotless because of the unuse that the bathroom saw. All things considered it was the perfect place to go, especially since it was hard to find a quiet corner in Hogwarts. It was the superb meeting place, but it could also be the best place to think because it provided the most shelter and even more isolation from prying eyes and ears. Plainly put very few would venture into a bathroom unless they actually had business that they had to carry out there. That was all excluding Sirius Black, who very often found a bathroom the perfect place to frequent when certain activities of questionable legality were concerned. Today one of those activities had brought him over to the bathroom on the sixth floor. Recently skipping class had turned into Sirius's favorite past time, today was no exception as he was currently hanging around in the bathroom on this floor waiting for the last set of bells to ring. He had no desire to go to potions today, so he got as far away from the dungeons as he could in the short amount of time that he was given to change classes. What he had really come here for more than anything was to relax and perhaps even unwind, it was something that he seldom got to do because he happened to be caught up in a lot of other things. Perched on a sink in the corner of the room, book bag sprawled beneath his feet, Sirius loosened his tie and plucked the first few top buttons open. The school uniform felt so restricting, especially when it came to breathing, he couldn't exactly breath easy until the tie was pulled from his neck, but by the messy knot that he had done up quickly this morning he wasn't prepared to do that yet. Besides there was still a few more class periods that he had to attend and that would mean that he would have to be in dress code, or at least some part of it.
Pulling at the corners of his shirt, Sirius untucked it as he pressed his face up against the cool yellowed tile wall in the bathroom. The sink was the perfect sitting place since it was rather close to the wall, or close enough at least so that Sirius could lean on the wall to keep his balance. The cooling feeling felt good after the long jog up the steps, not to mention the struggle to get here in the first place. Getting here was only half the fun, now the real action would begin shortly as soon as the last bell rang, than he would be in the clear zone. Right now, Sirius was looking out for any wandering Prefects or male students walking into the bathroom. He doubted either of the two would show because the place was known for its seldom use and constant isolation. Sirius was just glad to get out of the jumble of the hallways which had gotten worse in recent years as people seemed utterly confused as to which way they were going. As soon as the year progressed further in than the first years would finally be able to grasp the hang of things and possibly learn to get a better sense of direction. When navigating the hallways, Sirius sometimes found himself slipping through the passageways that they had found over the years when the crowds got really bad.
The last bell sounded loudly, echoing off the tile walls in the bathroom, and resounding through the stone corridors just outside the thin wooden door. Sirius could easily imagine the jumble of students a floor below rushing to class and praying that they got there on time. Being late was never a pleasant experience especially when it involved a Hogwarts Professor. Heaving a sigh of relief, Sirius was happy to hear the last bell ring as it meant that he had probably gotten away again with skipping class, unless the Professor that he had next talked to the potions Professor again. It had happened on various occasions because Sirius was a frequent no show in one class and than always present in the next one. The pattern weaved in and out throughout his day depending on which classes he liked and which ones he hated. He made a point to skip out on the ones that he thought were just plain boring. Given the benefit of being alone, Sirius reached into his pocket producing a pack of cigarettes. It was a chemical kind of relief that had the ability to sooth Sirius's nerves. Things had been getting sticky at home again and he wasn't willing to deal with it anymore. The end was very well there and he could see it in sight, he knew he was going to be kicked out soon because of the letters that his parents had been sending recently -- all had been howlers. Regulus loved to send his parents letters about which muggleborn girls Sirius had been sweet talking lately, which was one of the reason why the arguments had only proved to exceed in intensity.

“Not strong enough to deal with your problems soberly, I see.” Severus’s hatred-filled black eyes mimicked the feeling of disposition that coursed through his veins as he looked to Sirius Black from the doorway. He was always out to catch anyone doing something prohibited by the school, despite who they were. Severus was always sticking his nose into other peoples’ business and never paid too much attention to his own. His only concern in being here was to get this nuisance what he deserved; a trip out of Hogwarts, a school he now considered rather god forsaken. Perhaps that’d only be too easy of a punishment, rather, not a punishment at all. His body tensed as his hands did at his sides, curled somewhat into menacing pale fists. Snape wasn’t as dangerous-looking as he would like to be with his lanky frame, relatively short stature, and aged clothing. Sure, he wasn’t as rich and handsome as the Gryffindor that stood from him, but he had something Sirius didn’t; drive. Severus had the determination and passion for success, considering he felt his life meant nothing unless he was to do so. This simple frame of mind kept him breathing day after day. A thin hand reached to the wooden door, shutting it quietly and in a deliberately secretive way. He didn’t want to be caught by any of the professors, especially not the headmaster himself. Being one of his worst imaginations, he hardly ever missed a class, and was always on time for each of them. At least Severus was breaking the rules for a purpose unlike Sirius, who was only here to relieve a stress-ridden life. Glaring sideways to the paint-chipped bathroom stalls, he crossed his arms defiantly, a frown forming on his lips. This place was completely a dump. Half of the toilets in the bathrooms didn’t flush, mainly from the results of troublemakers and pranksters, which was the same group as far as Severus was concerned. Graffiti occasionally littered the insides of the stalls as well as the dingy-yellow tiled walls, making them appear more worn-down than they were in the first place. Some obstinacies were damned enough to be inerasable, giving whoever happened upon them a scoff of appreciation or disregard. The sinks were ridden with only god knows what, but all the mirrors were thankfully intact. That was a surprise. But all in all, Hogwarts was his home. Blinking past an unpredictably flickering light over head, he stared to Sirius Black. “You’re nothing without your bloody group of Gryffindors, are you?”

“Not strong enough to deal with your problems soberly, I see.”
The words rolled across the others tongue as coldly as they possibly could have, but Sirius was used to that tone of voice. That was the same tone of voice that so frequented his ears in his youth, as well as his current years, it was the tones that came from his parents and family alike. It was the sound of hatred being pumped into the air, where it would hang heavily until it was dismissed by the person being chastised. Sirius's automatic response was to ignore it, he took it for what it was worth and that was absolutely nothing in his opinion. He had never paid much heed to his parents when they had used that voice tone and now it seemed to go in one ear and right out the other yet again. Sirius was just a hard person to get through to, he was very much the sort of person who liked to do things on his own without any advice [no matter the negative connotations or not] from others. The familiar voice seemed to cut through the air rather readily as it reached Sirius's own ears, his hands were poised and busy at the moment as a cigarette was laced through the fingers of his right hand. He had just replaced the packet of the rest of cigarettes in his pocket too, and it had been looking like a promising peaceful place to smoke ...apparently not. So much for smoking without company, Sirius thought bitterly to himself, but there was an amused look gracing his features now. A doggish smirk appeared as he eyed the Slytherin tentatively who was situated at the door. Snivellius thought he was so menacing, on the contrary though he was quite the opposite.
"Lovely seeing you here, Snivellius!" Sirius remarked cheerfully at the Slytherin's offensive words. Everyone had their own personal outlet, Sirius did not play much into the same dark obsessions of hatred, pain, and death that Severus seemed to favor as his. Instead the Gryffindor much preferred to smoke and drink and of course have sex with the occasional beautiful girl. Attention seemed like a much friendlier outlet for his own angers and disappointments, but again this was not much healthier either than that hatred that so consumed Snape's life. But, Hell, what was healthy these days? Sirius continued to hold his cigarette poised before his lips as if he were thinking rather hard about something. He seemed to deduce that the scrawny boy before him did not pose to much of a threat yet because they had not gotten into it. Besides Snape was always obsessing over a "fair" battle as he liked to call it, apparently one against three wasn't something that he went for. Sirius had a lurking suspicion that this was not a chance meeting of any sort, perhaps Severus had been following him again? The sick git always seemed to be getting off on weird things like that, he somehow was convinced that he could catch Sirius in the act -- which one? That's still to be determined really.
Studying the greasy git across the room almost absent mindedly, Sirius placed the cigarette between his lips and produced a lighter with a rather agile hand from his pocket. He flicked it open with a satisfying snap and lit up the tip of his cigarette which begun to glow orange immediately. Replacing the lighter in his pocket, Sirius's grey eyes centered on Severus, "So should I hex you now, or later?" He spoke with the cigarette waving between his lips, although this sort of speech seemed to be natural for him because his words were not at all affected in their clarity. He puffed smoke from his cigarette finally getting his fix felt so relieving, maybe he would hold off on hexing Snape until later he was feeling a bit more at peace now. The doggish grin of earlier played across Sirius's lips as his grey eyes continued to hone in on Snape, it was really a pity that they were alone in this bathroom.
“You’re nothing without your bloody group of Gryffindors, are you?”
Severus's harsh set of words did not even seem to touch the Gryffindor, Sirius was far from caring what people said these days. He had learned from a young age to take nothing seriously, maybe that was why he had thrived so long on those harsh words that others had imparted to him over the years. Sirius chuckled a little at Snape's words, his carefree laughter might have been intimidating enough to the Slytherin but he absolutely had to add, "I suppose that means that you want me to hex you now? It's a pity because I always enjoyed having a bit of an audience, and currently there is no one to witness this. Such a waste.." Sirius clicked his tongue a little bit behind his cigarette which he was continuing to puff on as he observed the lanky Slytherin before him. His own wand was well within reach, but he did not motion for it yet, he was planning on maybe finishing his cigarette first it would be a waste if he didn't.

I see your motives inside Decisions to hideBack off, I'll take you on Headstrong to take on anyone___________ David watched Severus from the side as he leaned against the wall right next to an iron suit of armor. The armor was of course magical but knew David's need to keep his quidditch team under watch so the suit acted like he wasn't there. looking at his wand and then his fist he thought of which way he should get Snape off of his friend. Deciding on the fist David turned toward the male's restroom. He never really came down this hall nor used this particular restroom unless he really needed to.
He saw Severus walk into the bathroom shortly after Sirius did. Sighing lightly David pulled out his wand in case Sirius or Severus started dueling. It was a good thing he could control Sirius some, Severus now that was a different matter he hated slytherins and Severus Snape was almost at the top of his list.
Grabbing a hold of the door knob he twisted it and felt someone leaning on the door. Swingng it open swiftly feeling the weight get pushed off and then the person falling and skidding on the floor. David smiled softly seeing who it was and then picked him up by the back of his shirt. Moving him onto his feet David spoke darkly,"Hello Severus. You know the rules i have about my teammates right? Do Not Mess With Them If You Don't Want to Deal With Me." David repeated in severus' face in case the male forgot.
David then dropped him to the floor giving him a slight push against the wall his wand now out,"I honestly don't like you Severus and each time you try to get one of my quidditch boys and girls in trouble you make yourself lose even more face in my view." He then pointed his wand at the male,"I think it would be best for you if you never spoke to any one my friends again Severus, especially miss Lily Evans."
Seeing his legs spread slightly David stepped on hsi right one harshly as he bent down and pull Severus close to his face using his hair as the leverage to make Snape look at him. "I'll give you this warning. if i see you looking at any of us gryffindor's wrong i will make sure you won't be able to walk much longer. As an example I give you this now possibly fractured leg."
He then looked toward Sirius,"There's no need for a wand with this guy. He's to much of a weakling to mess with. Anyways Sirius are you alright? I missed you at the common room this morning because i had to talk to Professor Slug Horn about the Slug Club. Seems he wants your brother to be in it also, I don't think we need him in it but that doesn't matter to me its all up to the Professor."
He then stepped off of Severus' leg as he put up his wand and then pulled out a packet of cigarettes. He then pulled one out lighting it with his wand turning his back to Severus Snape finally.______________ Tag: Open Words: 517 Comments: Sorry Severus for the possible injury Lyrics: Headstrong - Trapt

Sirius Black’s laid-back attitude was only the worst thing about him that bothered Snape. The Gryffindor acted like he wasn’t moved in the slightest, and he most likely wasn’t, Standing there taking puffs off of his cigarette. It’s smoke slowly reeked its way into Severus’s nose, which wrinkled with displeasure. Muggles created some of the most dreadful inventions known to the human race, didn’t they? Completely ignorant people…. Who knew what that cigarette could be doing to his body? Inhaling smoke didn’t sound exactly all too healthy. The threats Sirius made didn’t shake Severus at all. He knew that Sirius would do anything he wanted to him; charms, hexes, curses, but he was ready this time. Snape had come fully prepared. The two were all alone in this bathroom, and no one was going to stumble upon them here. It was minutes after the last bell had rang. No one else was honestly stupid enough to come barging in here to risk getting into trouble. Wrong. All of a sudden Severus felt himself fall to the dirt-covered concrete floor, catching himself with his hands just in time to prevent falling onto his face. On his knees, his furious black eyes darted upwards, and he turned his head sharply to his left to view the culprit of such an unfortunate crime. David pulled him to his feet before Severus could even open his mouth to say anything, couldn’t if he had the chance. His shirt collar was snug against his neck for the moment he balanced on his heels before landing back on his soles again. He wasn’t there for long, however, because he quickly became face to face with the wall next to him, and fell to the ground again. With all this happening, Severus had hardly any time to think about what was going on. Everything was a whirl of pastel and grey. His expression turned full of confusion and anger, clearly stated by the snarl he wore on his face. That’s when the Slytherin was able to fully experience the face of his attacker. It was David, a Gryffindor and a friend of Sirius’s. David was someone he rather avoid. He was that normal Gryffindor type: a natural leader with a fiery temper if you strike the right cord, a go-getter, someone that has a bright outlook for life. What a lie. Life wasn’t meant to be happy. Ignorance is bliss, they say. Severus didn’t like people who were unnecessarily dramatic and self-centered. Therefore, he disliked David Val’Lauren. A heaviness rested upon his shin, and only then did Severus begin to realize the throbbing pain in his knees, and the burning sensation on his palms from skidding on the floor. Putting his palms down defensively on the floor at his sides, his face immediately met with David’s. The upperclassman grabbed a piece of Severus’s hair, yanking him nearly to the tip of David’s nose. He tried to look away, but he couldn’t. David was pretty strong. “I'll give you this warning. If I see you looking at any of us Gryffindor's wrong I will make sure you won't be able to walk much longer. As an example I give you this now possibly fractured leg." Snape attempted to wriggle free, his jaw clenched tightly from bearing a hardly tolerable pain surging through his legs. The bathroom had quickly turned into a prison, a dungeon. It sure looked like one from his point of view. The light that was flickering had burnt out, so the area where Sirius was smoking had dimmed to a pallid gold. The lighting made him appear much older, and much more threatening. But that didn’t intimidate him. "There's no need for a wand with this guy. He's to much of a weakling to mess with…” Severus stood up once he was released. He wobbled on his right leg, trying to gain the strength to stand, but was forced to put a hand against the wall. He leaned to his right as he glared at the two boys. David had his back turned to him now, giving Severus the confidence to pull out his wand. A cheap shot, yes, but this was the time to take advantage of his weak points. David wasn’t getting away with this, not after what he said. “I am not weak!” Snape barked, pushing against the tiled wall to position himself upright. “I‘ll show you weak!” He pointed his wand at David’s back angrily gritting his teeth together. He had to think of something fast before Sirius had the chance to stop him. He rummaged his mind for a clever idea, but in the end he could come up with nothing, he could do nothing. He bit his lower lip, his body trembling with exasperation and rage as he placed his back against the wall. Severus looked down to the floor, and his voice turned into a low, violent grumble. “I’ll show all of you….”

Sirius had not even moved to take his wand out, when the door swung open to the bathroom and yet another Gryffindor entered. Sirius recognized the guy immediately as the captain of the Quidditch team. He didn't mind David's company really, he was just another mate of Sirius's, but not the sort that James or Remus were. Somehow Sirius was not half surprised at David's presence, he was far used to the others inept ability at taking out Slytherins [usually from jumping out of corners]. Despite the sudden swinging of the door, Sirius seemed to remain calm and at ease, he didn't even flinch when it was thrown open. The possibility that there could have been an army of Slytherins marching through it at that moment would not have even touched his collected coolness. Nah, Sirius was the laid back sort and he never really got upset until he got angry and when he got angry that was enough reason for anyone to move out of the way. Even when he was torturing Snivellius or any other unsuspecting Slytherin he was never visibly upset or even far to passionate about it. His cool exterior was perhaps in part a result of the strenous yelling and screaming that he had done during his childhood years when he had been not allowed to do what he pleased. The yelling had gotten him nowhere, he had learned that from an early age so now he refrained from it. The option seemed to suit him much better anyways, especially in the mature mindset that he had mastered when he was merely eight years old. That was around the time that he begun to realize that his opinions differed greatly from those of his parents.
The confrontation that was unfolding was only something that Sirius observed vaguely as he continued to smoke his cigarette. He'd be damned if he was going to allow that sort of thing to disturb him because this was the only time he had to get away from the cluster of people in the corridors and his classes [that he was skipping to begin with] to smoke his cigarette. That was difficult in and of itself because he had had to slip through the corridors unseen and such, that was always such a burden. Sirius shook his head lightly listening to David taunt Severus, of course there was a doggish grin gracing his features for the duration of it but he found it overly amusing. It was easy to watch people pick on Snape, and even easier to let it happen, Sirius saw it as his given right possibly because of all the torture that he had to endure when he was younger. Those sorts of people who worshiped the dark arts of any kind simply deserved to be treated poorly. Sirius didn't believe in second chances for that sort of thing, you were either truly bad or truly good and as far as he was concerned Severus Snape was truly bad. There seemed to be no good points about the greasy git and whatever Lily Evans saw in him to have been sneaking around with him all those years before, Sirius was not exactly certain. But those behaviors had seized sometime in their fifth year when she had some sort of realization that Snivellius was not going to give into her whims due to his infatuation with his own dark desires, namely the dark arts. Sirius could not see where the seduction lay there because he had been exposed to it to more than half his life, he had never found it very enticing. What was the use in cursing the crap out of someone when the Ministry would come for you right after that for using "dark" and illegal magic. Not to mention the driving morals behind it and that sickly theme of pureblood supremacy, Sirius had had enough of those spiels to last him more than the next twenty lifetimes. So these were only a few of the reasons why he took joy in watching and most of the time participating in the timely torture of one, Severus Snape.
"There's no need for a wand with this guy.
Sirius gave David a skeptical look, "I'd much prefer to use my wand, brute force proves tiring. I have a very fragile exterior mind you." His voice had the sort of turn to it that indicated that he was teasing. Sirius was essentially very lazy though and any opportunity to use his wand he would pull it out and do so, if only just to show off those skills. Sirius had been in a fist fight before, actually he had been in more than a few fist fights before. There had been a time over the past six or so years that he had frequented the corridors of Hogwarts when it had been "cool" to fist fight. That time had long since past and Sirius had nearly gotten over that "phase," but on the rare occasion when his anger was just to extreme he didn't miss a beat when it came to punching someone or lashing out physically rather than magically. "Don't worry about me mate, it seems old Snivelly there is much worse off." [/b] Sirius added with a chuckle, the doggish grin was again gracing his handsome features. “I’ll show all of you….” Sirius's attention was pulled from David and directed again towards Snape with his threat. Sirius tilted his head in the Slytherin's direction, he was certain now that Severus's current beef was with the older Gryffindor and not at all himself. Even though Severus naturally wanted to get back at Sirius all of the time, currently he had not been the one to perform direct and immediate bodily harm to him. Instead now it appeared that Snape's logical target of choice was going to be David, but Sirius still was mentally preparing himself for this battle. His fingers wrapped around the remaining stub of his cigarette as he paused and suck the rest of the life from it before snubbing it out on the cracked proceilein sink. "It appears as if he is going to threaten us to death." Sirius observed cheerfully as he reached for his wand lazily, his languid manner was confident because he was already predicting the normal pattern of Snape's movements. The Slytherin froze up just exactly as Sirius had planned this gave him enough time to get his wand trained on Snape. ooc; okay so I lied, I got it finished today o.O words; over seven hundred, probably around the same as the last post music; screaming trees - butterfly[/size][/blockquote]
